In April of 2006, Luigi Borrelli, CIO for the Mercato Division of ENEL S.p.A., and former CIO of ENE's GEM division, was honored today as Large Utility "2006 CIO Of The Year" at a special reception hosted by Knowledge2006. The Knowledge2006 Utility CIO of the Year Award recognizes a CIO who has demonstrated exceptionally innovative leadership through effective use of technology in support of the strategic initiatives of his/her organization.
Mr. Borrelli was recognized for his leadership in the critical redesign and redeployment of Enel's information system infrastructure to accommodate Italy's transition into full competitive energy markets. A significant piece of Mr. Borrelli's strategy was the deployment of a bid-to-bill revenue management platform that integrated three Excelergy software solutions: Excelergy Trader BackOffice® to support trading and settlement; Excelergy HedgeDirect™ to manage real-time contract origination, pricing and hedging; and Excelergy RevenueManager™ for billing these complex contracts. These three solutions provide Enel with a straight-through processing platform that bridges its sales force, pricing desk, sourcing group, and back-office operations while providing management with a single view of all portfolios.
